PACCA Tucson History
In the spring of 2023, the Philippine American Chamber of Commerce Arizona (PACCA) recognized an opportunity for growth within the Filipino business community in Tucson, AZ. Observing the presence of thriving Filipino American enterprises, PACCA decided to establish its first chapter in the area to address the specific needs of these businesses.
Recognizing the potential for growth in Tucson, PACCA co-organizer and board member Ethel Luzario reached out to Angelita Doss who is deeply connected to the local community. Angelita, who later assumed the role of Founding Chair, joined forces with other community members to assemble a team dedicated to the vision of what would be the PACCA Tucson chapter. They were extended an invitation to a pivotal meeting with PACCA’s officers and chapter organizers—President Edward Lago, Board Member and Past President Ethel Luzario.
The collaborative discussion took place during a significant visit to Tucson on the fateful day of April 19, 2023. During the meeting, ideas were shared, perspectives discussed, and a collective commitment was formed to support and nurture the Filipino business community in Tucson. As the sun set on that spring day, the Tucson chapter of PACCA was founded, marking a significant milestone in PACCA’s history.
Since its inception, the Tucson chapter has experienced substantial growth in its membership base. PACCA-Tucson has actively organized meaningful and well attended business mixers and community events to connect local businesses and professionals in the area. These initiatives serve as catalysts for collaboration, providing a platform for networking and fostering relationships within the Filipino business community in Tucson.
This joint effort, driven by a shared determination to meet the unique needs of Filipino businesses in Tucson, has not only laid the foundation for a supportive and thriving community but has also created opportunities for sustained growth and connectivity in the years that followed.
